Why are Apple AirPods only produced in white? If you look at the production of AirPods from the past to the present, you will truly only see the white color. Apple has been producing AirPods in white for years. So, is this choice a coincidence or part of a conscious design strategy? What if we told you that the iPod is behind this? Yes, we can genuinely say it comes from the iPod. How so?

Let’s take a closer look at the reasons behind Apple’s conscious design strategy of only producing AirPods in “white” for now.

Why Are Apple AirPods Only Produced in White?

    • A legacy from the iPod  – To clarify, Apple’s old iPods also came with white earbuds. Back then, when everyone else used gray or black headphones, Apple made them white, and they instantly became a status symbol. Now, they’re doing the same thing with AirPods.
    • Free advertising on the street  –  Consider this: everyone who sees white earbuds on the street says “AirPods.” If they were red, no one would know what brand they were. Apple saves millions of dollars in advertising costs this way.
    • Brand recognition  –  White earbuds = Apple. It’s that simple. If they were colored, this instant recognition would be lost.
    • Product role difference  – You hold your iPhone in your hand, put it on a table, put a case on it. That’s why you want it to be colorful. But AirPods just sit in your ear and do their job.
    • Cost  – Producing in a single color is, of course, cheaper. Different colors mean different production lines and different inventory management.
    • Premium segment  – AirPods Max are expensive, which is why they come in colors. Because people who pay that much money want differentiation.

So, why do you think this might be?
